May 21: Theme night, and game-day staff

Our internship team will be responsible for one theme night during the summer. Therefore, today we shared different ideas about theme night including heritage night, cartoon night, decade night, and motorcycle night. Because we will have zero budget, we finally made a decision on decade night. After our decision, we also listed several groups we can contact and invite them to our theme night. During the process, I learned valuable experience about American culture and marketing. I believe our decade night will be successful.

At night, because of my performance in the past several days, I was selected to be the game-day staff. It is my dream to work during a baseball game and it came very fast. Blue Crabs’ game started at 7:05 pm. At 4:30 pm, the whole team had a meeting to let everyone know tonight’s pre-sales, flow, and responsibilities. Since I am an intern, I can learn from different persons.

At 4:45 pm, I started to learn from Del, our box office representative, about our ticket system. Moreover, I sold tickets to walk-in fans. It is exciting to sell tickets to enthusiastic fans.

At 5:30 pm, I was an usher to lead our fans to their seats and guide them when they have questions about our stadium. Finally, at 6:30 pm, I served in our Legend Club. Tonight, a company bought all the seats in our Legend Club to hold a networking event for their clients. I assisted in two ladies, Susan and Sara, from the company delivering the gifts to their customers. I also talked to several clients about Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and invited them to our future games. It is a fantastic night to make friends. At the end of game, Susan wanted to thank for my assistance and gave me a small gift. I was honored to be a game-day staff. It is a very special experience.
